Beep Beep, is it a bird, is it a plane, no it is a UFO transporting us to the holy ground of Planet Wacken Open Air. Leaving the wizards and witches behind us, we are abducted by Aliens and took us to the outerspace of Metal. At least that’s what we think or did we forget ?
This years line up contains some very special shows including the first time ever show of the legendary Guns n Roses with the grand finale of their ”Because What You Want & What You Get Are Two Completly Different Things” European Tour.
Krisiun takes us back to the 90’s with their special set. Midnight serves us a complete and total hell set while Night demon will celebrate their 10th anniversary of ”Curse of the damned” by playing the whole album.
Michael Schenker will serve us a special set with only music from his years with UFO, so we can all scream for the ”doctor, doctor”. Some bands have anniversaries coming up at Wacken including Gravediggers 45th, Macabre‘s 40th, Orange Goblins 30th and final German show and Saltatio Mortis 25th anniversary and headline show.
W.A.S.P will play a greatest hit set and hopefully we will get to hear Animal live.
Fun fact we get to see old and new Nightwish, without them being announced as a performer. Tarja & Marko Hietela and Floor Jansen both will perform solo but you bet we will get to hear some good old Nightwish bangers.
Straight from Planet Fiction Miracle of Sound will perform for the first time ever at Wacken Open Air with songs about videogames, books and fantasy including their well know song ”Valhalla Calling”.
People often say that heavy metal is not for kids. Well Heavysaurus is here to proof you wrong. Dressed up as Dinosaurs they are ready to take the stage of Wacken for the first time.
After two canceled performances STATIC-X will finally ”Push it” on the Holy Ground bringing Wayne‘s vision back to life.
What do you get when you mix Metal with Jack Sparrow? Shantallica will sail to the shores of Wacken for the first time ever. Let’s hope the rum will not be gone.
With over 200 bands playing the festival from 27th of July till the 2nd of August there are so many different kinds of metal to enjoyed by all. Unfortunately the festival is already sold out however with any luck you can still get tickets through the official Wacken Marketplace
