We’ve lost count how many times we’ve been to Party San Metal Open Air—but who’s counting anyway? All we know is: it’s home, and we’re coming back.

Last year was madness in all the right ways. Sunrise death metal breakfasts, black metal rituals in a sweat-drenched tent, Behemoth blasting hellfire, Sodom making necks snap, Hellripper tearing it up, Konvent crushing souls, and Ritual Death dragging us straight into the abyss. Oh, and a double rainbow. No big deal.

The 2025 billing? Not to be scoffed at. Triptykon doing a full Celtic Frost set, Napalm Death, Rotting Christ, Pig Destroyer, Bloodbath, Suffocation, Dark Angel, Gorgoroth, Anaal Nathrakh—need we go on? Black metal still rules the roost with MØL, Harakiri for the Sky, Firtan and Outlaw, while the death/grind/slam corner is well-covered by the likes of Fulci, Party Cannon, Gutslit and Extermination Dismemberment. And somewhere in the shadows: Crypt Sermon, Dool, The Vision Bleak, and all the other weirdos we can’t wait to see.

The tent stage? Still the filthiest, sweatiest cathedral of noise we know. Come for the shoegaze-black haze, stay for the unexpected insanity.

As always: no gimmicks, no bullshit: just extreme metal, cold Köstritzer, and that one guy in corpse paint crowd-surfing on a pizza floatie.
