Slowly, the grounds fill. Familiar faces hug each other.
The setting feels almost like a garden party, yet beneath the surface bubbles something dark, something that could erupt at any moment.

Sound blasts through the air.
Even in the full sun, the unbearable weight of life is palpable, as if the darkness cannot be tamed. The festival continues to swell, the crowd moves with it, heads nodding rhythmically. It is raw, it is fierce, yet behind it lies a certain beauty.
At times it twists unexpectedly — an emotional climax suddenly shifts into a joyful eruption, as if art and kitsch embrace each other. Then the breath is taken away by slow, immersive tones that cut deep into the soul. Among the crowd, powerful female presences on stage intensify this feeling: sharp, strong, and simultaneously vulnerable.

Through it all, a message resounds: the world is broken, but here something is being built from love. Love for the music, for life, and for the Dark.
Desperation and anger, but also connection and hope. It is raging, it is raw, sometimes a bit poser-like perhaps — and yet: something beautiful emerges, in the midst of the pounding sound, in the late summer glow of two days in Utrecht, at Duister Collectief.
