Aerosmith & Yungblud – One More Time

”Would you cry if I called you my angel?” I don’t think so but what brings a tear to my eye is the release of new music, especially when Yungblud and Aerosmith created a love child called ”One More Time”.

Santa Claus is coming to town early this year and brings you a Christmas gift from the boys of Aerosmith, who decided to work together with the future of Rock Music that comes in the form of Doncaster’s bouncy ball Dominic Harrison a.k.a. Yungblud.
”One More Time” is an EP released by Capital Records on the 21st of November and contains 4 new songs written by Steven Tyler, Joe Perry and Yungblud.

It started with a lovely tribute to the prince of Darkness at this years VMA‘s, but actually it was Yungblud himself who reached out to the guys from Aerosmith. He wanted them to be on a version of ”Hello Heaven, Hello” but apparently there was a spark and ”One More Time” was born.
It has been a decade since we last heard some new material by Aerosmith so let’s dive straight into it.

Tyler, who had to cancel the Peace Out: Farewell Tour in 2024 due to vocal cord damage, starts with a good piece of acapella which sounds amazing in all fairness. He keeps continuesly singing the first part of the song including the first chorus. ”My Only Angel” has a Aerosmith vibe and reminds me of that classic 80’s rock music that brought them their fame. The second verse Yungblud takes the stage and his raw voice fits perfectly with the good old guitar riffs. When Tyler and Yungblud sing together it feels not really like a brand new project but something that always has been this way. Both men have this rawness in their voices that harmonizes amazing.

Is that a live crowd we hear? Hell Yeah! Recorded on Bludfest 2024, Yungblud‘s own music festival, ”Problems” serves as the ultimate tribute to his fans. In an interview Yungblud told that performing every night for his fans helps him to deal with all the darkness in his head. By adding the live crowd to the song he hopes that his fans will feel like they are there at the gig and feel like home. It makes sense in my opinion that Yungblud sings the majority of this song and Tyler joins in later.

Are you a true Rock n Roll artist without a tribute song to woman? ”Wild Woman” is the perfect mix between Yungblud and Aerosmith. Both Yungblud and Tyler sing in a perfect harmonization. Where Yungblud takes the more higher notes in this song we have Tyler his raw voice supporting the whole song.

Maybe the intro of the song reminds you of another famous rockband? Seems like someone was ”Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door”? Maybe not so strange hence that the drummer on this EP is no one else than former Guns n Roses drummer Matt Sorum. ”A Thousand Days” is the ultimate rock ballad and my absolute favorite song on this EP. You know that feeling when everything comes together perfectly. For me this song feels like that.

Okay enough with the new material. Time for some good old rock songs but let’s make it more 2025. ”Back In the Saddle” gives Tyler the opportunity to show some good old rock skills. And he opens with the sentence: ”i’m back!” And sure he is. This version is shorter than the original. 3.30 minute instead of the original 4.40, probably we can blame Yungblud for this up speed version. What I like about this song that it has the Yungblud touch now, if I didn’t knew it was an old Aerosmith song, I would have believed it to be a brand new Yungblud song. It fits both the artists so good.

Now the big question, is the release of a new version of ”Back In the Saddle” the hint to a Aerosmith comeback? According to Perry and Tyler himself, the chance of Aerosmith getting back on tour is zero unfortunately. But maybe we will get treated of an every now and then surprise performance. Just like they did with Yungblud at the VMA‘s.

In the meantime we can enjoy this masterpiece that is called ”One More Time” and I really hope this will open doors to maybe more rockbands to do a collaboration with this multi talent that is Yungblud.
