15 Years of Extreme; Kill-Town Death Fest 2025

It’s hard to believe it’s been 15 years since the very first edition of Kill-Town Death Fest. What began as a modest celebration of the Scandinavian death metal scene has grown into one of the most revered extreme metal festivals in the world. Despite its growth, it still holds tight to that raw, unmistakable DIY spirit—and that’s exactly why I keep coming back year after year.

As tradition demands, this September will once again see Copenhagen’s legendary Pumpehuset transformed into a sanctuary of sonic destruction. Over three days and across two indoor stages and one outdoor stage, no fewer than 37 bands will bring the noise—from gut-wrenching death metal to esoteric experimental chaos, and of course, a heavy dose of doom to round things out on Sunday.

This year’s lineup is as stacked and savage as ever. Expect blistering sets from the likes of Mitochondrion, Caustic Wound, Antediluvian, Cancer (!), Impetuous Ritual, Galvanizer, Abhorration, Rippikoulu, HAR, and returning heroes Interment. One of the biggest highlights? None other than Portal, playing their first European show since 2015—a rare and unmissable appearance for fans of the truly bizarre and terrifying.

With such a diverse lineup, there’s guaranteed to be something for every connoisseur of the extreme. Whether your taste leans toward bone-crushing old-school brutality or mind-melting sonic experimentation, KTDF delivers in spades.

Beyond the music, festival-goers can dive into the ever-popular Metal Thunder Market, browse rare merch and records, and fuel up with the fest’s very own IPA, Slowburn—a worthy ritual in itself.

Tickets are flying fast, and as I write this, less than a hundred remain. If you don’t act soon, you might miss out on one of the most intense weekends of the year.

See you there!
