Vader – Necropolis

Release date: 21-8-2009 (europe)
22-9-2009 (USA)
As I write this review Vader is between release dates on their eight studio album Necropolis. As expected the 20 year old band gives us an old school death metal album. But does it after a few line up changes still contain the same style of groove? Yes it does. The album necropolis is exactly what you expect of it. It has great riffs and some nice headbanging( Devilizer, Dark Heart, Impure) and mosh tracks (Rise Of The Undead, Blast, Anger). I cant wait to see/hear these songs live.
The only remarks I can actually make about the cd is that the several death metal guitar solo’s could be better and that the cd is really short. A normal cd without bonus tracks only has 33 minutes of actual music on it. And even then it still has a few fill parts on it with the tracks “The Seal” and “Summoning The Future”. Even the final track has a blank spot on it after four and half minutes which lasts for two minutes.
Thankfully the cd I review has a few bonus songs on it with the covers “Black Metal” and “Fight Fire with Fire”. Especially the cover song “Black Metal” is really cool, combining the Vader style with the greatness of Venom (and guest vocalist: Bartłomiej Krysiuk). The cover “Fight Fire with Fire” of Metallica is done with help from guest vocalist Maciej Taff.
Conclusion:
Vader gives us precisely what we need from Vader, groovy old school death metal. Nothing fancy about it, just good death metal. The only thing missing is more songs. So we will all just have to wait for the next Vader album.
