The Kandidate – Until we are Outnumbered
Releasedate : 29-01-2010
Released by: Napalm Records

The Kanditate formely know as The Downward Candidate has released their first CD after the well received demo ‘Distort & Confuse’ released in 2005. The cd is known as ‘Until we are Outnumbered’ and consists of death/trash metal according to Napalm Records. The sound is straightforward, hard hitting drums, groovy guitars, lots of riffs and screaming ‘core-ish’ vocals.
When listening to the songs I can hardly say I am impressed. The production is good, clear and on point but the songs lack a distinct sound. It is as Napalm Record says a combination of death and trash and it cant rise above that combination. The songs itself are of reasonable quality and I think will sound great live. They have energy and as said before are hard hitting, straightforward and groovy. I would gladly join a mosh with this in the back ground. The best song on the album is ‘Yours truly’ being very groovy, having some strange Devin Townsendish vocals midway and because its the last song.
Conclusion:
The cd lacks an interesting sound. The songs are a bit more of the same and tend to slowly blend into each other. The songs may carry great when played live, but on cd they are not good enough. A big plus is the recording quality. The sound is clear and leaves no room for sloppy work.
