Kapot Hard 30-12-2009 (DB’s Utrecht)
Line-up:
Stronghold
Haribo macht kinder Froh
Twisted in ruins
Doghouse Gallows
When we entered the venue, the First band, Stronghold was already almost finished playing. Judging the very last part of their show I don’t think I feel bad about missing their show, since it didn’t sound very interesting or exciting.
After enjoying some beers, time had come for the second band of the evening: Haribo macht Kinder Froh. This band from Utrecht itself, had their first gig in their hometown. They had a funny intro which made me excited. Unfortunately the intro didn’t connect at all with the following song. What can I say. This kind of music isn’t something I would listen to without being forced to. The band brought their fan base with them. These guys are for sure that they will never drown. Their style of dansing/moshing or whatever it was, looks most like someone doing a front crawl in the pool. The music itself wasn’t very spectacular either, but the band itself was an energy bomb on stage and know how to get the people excited.

The next band, Twisted in Ruins, got a bit closer to the style in music that I enjoy. Presenting some nice metal sounds, combined with influences from other music styles like hardcore, this band woke up the metalhead in everybody who was there. For the first time I saw some people headbanging. The energy of the band was noticeable in the crowd. Some people started swimming again, but that didn’t really seem to bother anybody. This show was ok.
Last band of the evening was Doghouse Gallows. This band, also coming from Utrecht, finished the evening with some nice metal… finally! I’ve never heard the band before but I was amazed. They immediately got the crowd excited and people started headbanging and enjoying the show. The fact that people were leaving to catch their last train or bus did not seem to stop the band from enjoying this evening themselves too. When they were finished, they even came back, because two persons (going by the names Tabitha and Roel
) didn’t stop screaming ‘WE WANT MORE”. After an extra song they played especially for them, the evening was finally finished.
Even though most of this bands are not band I personally enjoy, I had a great evening. The people that visited this gig were great people and all the bands did the best they can!
